The ABC's of Kissing Boys (English Edition) Reviews
Although I have to admit that I'm usually a big fan of the popular guy & "normal" girl storyline, this plot was delightfully refreshing and original. The story was really cute and I enjoyed the smooth writing style of the author. I don't know what made it so special, but I could really relate to Parker when it came to her guy-problems.What I didn't get (and this was also the reason I gave the book only four stars) was the way she treated and was treated by her (girl)friends. A few times I would have really wished to shake her until she saw reason. Parker just didn't stop making excuses for her "BFFs" treating her like an outcast, just for the sake of maybe becoming popular again and that annoyed me quite a bit. When she finally saw what was really going on and acted the part I couldn't have been more happy. In my opinion it just took her way too long.Tristan was just swoon-worthy (even though he is just 15!). He was very mature and had a great sense of humor, so I was able to mostly ignore the fact that he was younger than Parker. I'm aware that the author was trying to tell us that age, appearances, status and so on shouldn't have a part in choosing the right person for you, but I have to admit that the whole boy-beeing-younger-than-the-girl issue is a thing that usually bothers me quite a bit. It was different this time. Their scenes together were always amusing and I could feel the heat coming off the pages. Their make-out-lessons were hot without beeing over the top. So I enjoyed the book immensely!I had a great time reading this book and think Tina Ferraro created a great hero. There were just a few issues that bothered me a bit, so I couldn't give the book the full score.
Gold Star Award Winner!Parker's life is over. She failed to make the varsity soccer team and now her friends are drifting further and further away, until her social life is nonexistent. But she's not taking this lying down. She's come up with a foolproof plan to regain both her spot on the soccer field and also her former BFFs.She's going to pay the hottest guy in town to kiss her at the annual sports fair. However, if the rest of the school finds out, her chance at redemption might be over before it begins. With THE ABC'S OF KISSING BOYS, Parker learns the true meaning of friendship and love, as well as her own strength, in this delightful romantic tale.Reviewed by: Jennifer Rummel
My Thoughts: We are introduced to Parker who loves soccer and revolves her life around soccer. She is upset she doesn't make varsity so she hatches a plan to get kissed at the kissing booth by last years most hottest popular guy who is now in college. He is also her brother's best friend. Yes, they both are in on it. We are than introduced to Tristan. He is Parker's next door neighbor and is two years younger gradewise than Parker. He's been to camp and knows how to kiss so he offers his service to Parker. He starts to teach her all the different kisses. She soon realizes there might be more to him than she thought since she originally thought he wasn't cool enough to be in her crowd. FYI: Her crowd is the popular girls. Of course Tristan also uses his new found popularity to meet other girls. He figures he should get something out of his lessons. I really liked this book. I devoured it in one sitting. I loved Parker and Tristan together. I loved the way he was teaching her how to kiss and all the different techniques he knows. I loved the references in this book and I loved the feelings that slowly started to develop between them. I didn't like most of Parker's friends. In reality, they were snobs and I would have liked her to stay away from them and realize from the get go they weren't worth her time. I loved this book. If you want to know what happens to Parker, pick this book up now!Overall: Loved it! I even love the title of this one! Its a fun quick read that will make you smile and want to learn more about Tristan's kissing techniques!
The ABC's of Kissing Boys by Tina Ferraro starts out with Parker learning she didn't make the varsity team and is very upset about it and the fact that her friends are now leaving her out. So in order to get back into her friend group and on the Varsity team, she has to do something about it-and that something involves her neighbor. This is a really cute book, and it's about kissing-and who doesn't like a book about kissing? Each chapter starts out with the name of a kiss (starting with A and ending with Z) and then it states the definition of that kiss. And within that chapter, that kiss happens-which is super cute and I loved how she followed the alphabet. Will I reread it?Most defiantly. This book was just a really light, fun read that I suggest it to every age group including those younger teens and older teens. It was just very enjoyable.
This will be a mini review, because I didn't have time to reread this book. I just want to say this is perfect recipe for making me smile. It had cute awkward moments and sweet kissing ones. I honestly have never been one for younger guys, but after this book I definitely never looked them over either.I thought Parker was awesome going after what she wanted, and I loved how she begins to realize what is really important. I love the family feud thing going on, almost make them like Romeo and Juliet. Everything is stacked against her, yet Parker continues to fight and ends up winning it all! duh =)
Tina Ferraro has a great voice in this story of teen romance, fun, and the inevitable mean girl. Her way of writing draws you in, has you rooting for the characters, and literally flipping through the pages to get through the story. I loved this book and I think it's totally worth of the RITA (Romance Writers of America award) nomination. Teens will love it. Heck...40 year olds will love it! I look forward to more and more and more from this writer.
This was a good cute read.
